IFK Göteborg are unhappy their new signing Alhassan Yusuf cannot make his debut in Saturday’s match against BP due to work permits.

The Swedish side have extolled the virtues of the 18-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who was handed a two-year contract on Thursday after a successful two-month trial.

“We are very pleased that he has chosen us in competition with several other clubs,” says sports director Mats Gren on the club’s official website.

Sports Manager Mats Gren said: “He has been with us for a couple of months and really has shown the capacity and talent that exists. Ridiculous, talented with a ball and with an already well-developed spell, we have great hopes for the future of Alhassan.

“There is still a lot of work left, including work permits, and the case is currently with the authorities. Of course, we want to have Alhassan available as fast as possible.”

Yusuf, who was quickly dubbed “Hasse” by his new teammates in the a-squad, has been handed number 28 shirt.
