Olarenwaju Kayode has secured a loan move to Shakhtar Donetsk from Manchester City for the rest of the reason with an option to make it permanent.
The Ukrainian giants announced this in a release on their official website on Friday, which reads, “Shakhtar” signed a contract with the striker of “Manchester City” Olarenvazhu Kayode. The lease agreement is calculated until the end of the season-2017/18 and includes the option of redemption.”
This puts an end to his nightmarish stint with Spanish Primera Liga side Girona, where he scored no goals in 12 appearances following his summer loan move from Manchester City.
The Nigeria striker had earlier played at FC Lucerne, Maccabi Netanya and Austria Wien, emerging the top scorer of the Austrian Bundesliga in the 2016/17 season with 24 goals.
The former Assec Mimosas player joined Manchester City in August 2017 on a four-year contract and was immediately farmed out on loan to Girona.
Kayode’s stint with Girona was terminated by Manchester City after he failed to command a regular shirt at the club.
His move to Amiens in the winter failed to sail through over a delay in sorting some paperwork by Manchester City, who were busy trying to push through other issues following their bid for Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez.
