Andy Murray has pulled out of the 2017 US Open because of injury.
The British No.1 has been struggling to recover from a hip problem that hindered him during this year’s Wimbledon.
And having worked over the last few weeks to be fit for Flushing Meadows, Murray has been forced to withdraw.
He said: “It’s too sore for me to win the tournament and ultimately that’s what I was here to try and do”.
Murray becomes the latest big name to withdraw, following news Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka will not feature.
“The last two years have taken a lot out of him,” Murray’s mum, Judy, said earlier this month.
“But the tennis calendar is relentless, it’s 11 months of the year, there’s hardly any gaps to have a rest and I kind of feel that it’s all caught up on him.”
