MFM FC over the weekend emerged unscathed from two accidents on their way from Jos to Lagos following their 1-0 defeat to Plateau United in a Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 5 fixture.
The first occurred on Sunday at Akungba, Ondo State, when their new bus suffered failed breaks, leaving only two persons with minor injuries.
Their Media Officer, Olawale Quadri, who broke the news, said the team were safe and sound, adding that the bus was badly damaged.
He said: “The accident was unfortunate, but we thank God that no one sustained serious injury. I have read some reports that our coach was injured, nothing of such happened.
“We are safe and sound; we are presently in a hotel in Akure so that we can take off from there after some time so that the players can also have some rest.
“Some of the players that sustained minor injuries are being taken care of and they will join the rest of the team; we thank God for his protection.
“We hope to resume the journey as soon as possible and we also thank our fans too for their support and prayers.”
The team then chartered two buses to convey officials and players from the point of the first accident to Lagos, only for one of the buses to suffer failed breaks before arriving in Lagos.
Tosin Omolyele ‘s second half goal decided the tie in favour of the home team and defending champions.
