Leganes new signing, Kenneth Josiah Omeruo is happy to ply his trade in La Liga, where he feels the best players are, adding it will be his biggest challenge.
The 24-year-old stated this on Friday after sealing his season-long loan move from Chelsea.
“I have not played an official game with Chelsea yet, I’ve played the World Cup opportunity very much,” said the defender who was part of the Nigerian team to 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
Omeruo, who has played on loan at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor since joining Chelsea in 2012, was unveiled by Udinese alongside Óscar Rodríguez, who joined on loan from Real Madrid.
Accompanied by Txema Indias, technical secretary of C.D. Leganés, the players were happy with this new opportunity.
“It’s a dream since I was a child playing in the First Division, to be able to do it in this great team can be a great learning experience for me,” said Óscar.
“There will be a lot of competition, but here we all come to the same, to win the position and I will fight as one more to try to win it. “It is a very good option because I can learn a lot here”.
Omeruo played last season at Kasimpasa, his second spell at the Turkish Super Lig side, where he played the 2015 season.
