Samuel Kalu is over the moon after scoring once and rendering an assist in Gent’s 2-1 win away to Genk in a Belgian First Division A tie on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder assisted B. Verstraete for the opening goal on 11 minutes and registered his name on the score sheet on 77 minutes, to take the visitors two goals clear at Luminus Arena.
Trossard pulled one back for the home team three minutes from regulation time, as Gent held out for a crucial win in the Game Week 30 encounter.
Kalu, who featured alongside compatriots Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti throughout the match, celebrated his feats in a statement on social media, adding that he was looking forward to the championship play-offs.
“Fantastic result today. Play off1. Thank God for the goal & assist 🙏,” stated the Nigeria prospect with six goals and as many assists under his belt for Gent this season.
