Nigeria table tennis queen, Olufunke Oshoniake has congratulated Offiong Edem for finishing 3rd in the women’s singles event at ITTF Continental Cup Africa, which was concluded in Kenya on Saturday.

The Hamburg, Germany-based Oshonaike felicitated with Edem in a post on her Facebook page, adding that her bronze medal was more than gold.

“Congratulations my dearest Offiong Edem for the 3rd position in Kenya. People don’t really know what you and me went through in Kenya but to me the bronze medal is more than gold. I’m very proud of you and remember we have God on our side and we will surely get there, so no giving up oooo. Love you loads,” stated Oshonaike, who failed to reach the last four of the event won by number one seed and Egypt’s Dina Meshref.

Edem lost (11-7, 11-5, 3-11, 11-6, 12-10) to Meshref, who went on to defeat Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou (11-2, 11-4, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8) to reserve the top step of the podium.

An ever growing collection of silverware, now firmly established as the continent’s leading player, added to her list of titles in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi.
