Gero Pleased With His Europa Run With Östersunds FK



Östersunds FK forward Alhaji Gero is with his team’s progress in the UEFA Europa League.

The 24-year-old Nigeria spoke after his team were held 1-1 by Hertha Berlin on Thursday, to finish in second position behind Athletic Bilbao in Group J, as both teams progressed into the next round.

Gero took to Instagram to celebrate the feat on Friday, expressing his gratitude to his fans and describing 2017 as his best in his football career.

“This is the best year in my football career! I’m grateful to be part of this team! And I want to thank every single person who has been there throughout the year you have been magnificent! so much love! And wish every one of you a happy Christmas and New year! The vacation begins and see you in 2018????????????????,” stated Gero, who played from start till the 46th minute when he was replaced by defender Dennis Widgren at Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Papagiannopoulos put the visitors in the lead on 58 minutes following a barren first half while Pekarík leveled scores on 61 minutes.

Östersunds FK lost the position to Athletic Bilbao over head to head after the Spaniards won 2-0 at Zorya to finish with 11 point, same as Östersunds FK.
