Gent have told West Bromwich Albion they need to pay €20m for the services of their winger and Nigeria international Moses Simon.
Their director of football, Michel Louwagie, said this in an interview with Sport/Foot, which was relayed by VoetbalNieuws.
He said: “I still think he’s worth €20m, and I’m glad I said that. Why can, in the Netherlands, they sell for amounts of €30m and we can’t? Where is Memphis Depay now? He moved from PSV to Manchester United with a lot of fanfare. AZ’s top scorer, Vincent Janssen, went to Tottenham to play a minute on the pitch.
“The trend is now reversed. Wilfred Ndidi in December (sold to Leicester), soon a few of the Anderlecht boys. Whoever wants our players has to pay. Do not underestimate our financial pressures.”
Simon, 21, is also attracting interest from Monaco and Middlesbrough, but with the latter of the three now relegated, it’s fair to say that destination is off the cards, but the other two remain a distinct possibility.
