FIFAU20WWCQ: Nigeria Set Foot At France With 2-0 Win In South Africa

BY TIAMIYU NURAYN ADEYINKA

Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, Super Falcons on Saturday defeated their South African counterparts 2-0 in a FIFA U20 World Cup first leg of final round qualifying tie at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The highly favoured West Africans thus set one foot at the finals holding in France later this year as they head into the corresponding tie in Nigeria in a fortnight with a huge advantage.

Serial scorer, Rasheedat Ajibade handed the visitors the lead on 30 minutes after she cleverly beat Basetsana goalkeeper while Anam Imo, who later rattled the crossbar on 55 minutes made it 2-0 five minutes later, to close out the first half.

The Falconets were scarcely under any threat from their hosts as they dominated possession from start to finish, to the consternation of the home fans.
