Serial scorer, Rasheedat Ajibade and Reuben Charity weighed in with two goals apiece as Nigeria walloped Morocco 5-1 in the second leg of FIFA U20 Women World Cup qualifying tie at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin-City on Saturday.
Ajibade, who also rendered an assist, opened the scoring five minutes into the encounter that was almost postponed due to rains, by finishing off work from the left by Joy Duru. She made it a brace two minutes into added time of full time, beating the Moroccan defence for pace and slotted beyond goalie, making 4-1 for Nigeria.
Gift Monday made it 2-1 on 15 minutes for Nigeria while the visitors reduced the deficit on 35 minutes through a horrendous mistake by Nigeria goalkeeper from a free kick by Fatima Tagnaout.
Reuben Charity scored the first of her two goals on 77 minutes, putting Nigeria up 3-1 and made it two for herself and 5-1 in favour of Nigeria three minutes into added time of full time, after slotting in from Ajibade’s pass as Nigeria counter attacked.
Nigeria thus progressed to the 3rd Round of qualification series for the finals in France on 6-2 on aggregate, having been forced to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Rabat.
