Nigeria will soon take to the court for their second Group A game against Mali at the 2018 FIBA Afrobasket in Tunisia.
The defending champions began their campaign on a stuttering note on Friday, edging Cote d’Ivoire 78-77, with team captain Ike Diogu weighing in with 31 points in Rades, on the outskirts of Tunis.
During his 33 minutes on the court, Diogu did a bit of everything for his team. Not only he led all scorers with a game-high 31 points, but he also finished with eight rebounds as Nigeria saw off a resilient Cote d’Ivoire side, who led 74-69 with three minutes remaining.
Mali outscored Democratic Republic of Congo 87-82 in their first game that stretched into extra five minutes to find the winner of a breathtaking encounter.
Democratic Republic of Congo defeated Cote d’Ivoire 81-60 in the second Group A game earlier in the day.
