Former Nigeria international, Chief Segun Odegbami will on Wednesday formerly declare his gubernatorial intention.
In a release by the former speedy right winger, he said he will formerly join the Labour Party and subsequently enter the gubernatorial race on that platform.
He said: “On that day I shall become a member of the Labour Party, and be officially welcomed on that political platform as a gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.”
Odegbami will be the first high-profile sports personality to contest a governorship seat in Nigeria.
Odegbami won the Africa Cup of Nations the first time for Nigeria in 1980 and was one of Abeokuta indigenes who were star players of the 1976 continental-winning Shooting Stars, others being Kunle Awesu and Muda Lawal, of blessed memory.
