Enyimba International have regretted their 3-0 defeat to CARA Brazzaville in a CAF Confederation Cup Group C , Game 2 tie at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Débat, Brazzaville.
The home team came out firing from the blocks, registering all goals in five minutes, with Racine Louamba opening the scoring on 14 minutes, Cabwey Mèrêves Kivutuka doubling the lead on 17 minutes and Dicha Liema rounding off the scoring on 19 minutes.
The People’s Elephant have issued a statement describing the blow-out as a day and performance to forget.
“A day, and a performance to forget. Our fans deserved so much better,” read the short statement.
The defeat saw the three-time African champions drop from first to third position in the standings. WAC , who about now taking on Djoliba in their second game mounted the zenith, CARA moved from third to second after picking their first win of the phase. Djoliba are without a win and bring up the rear.
Enyimba’s capitulation against the Congolese leaves a question mark on the standard of Nigeria Professional Football League, after Plateau United, Akwa United and MFM were ousted from CAF club competitions at preliminary stages.
