Ashadi Destiny stopped Kano Pillars from claiming maximum point at Katsina in Saturday’s 2017-2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season’s opener that ended 2-2 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The visitors made no pretext about carrying the day as Junior Lakosa opened the scoring on 33 minutes, to record the first goal of the 2017-2018 season.

Katsina United responded through Ajanachinedu Chukwujekwu, who levelled matters three minutes into first half added time, while Alassan Ibrahim put Kano Pillars back in front on 61 minutes with a screamer.

Destiny struck from the spot just when the former champions thought they already had all points in their bags.

Pillars were down to 10 mean on 43 minutes when Victor Dennis got red-carded, to become the first player to receive the Marching Order in the season.

Kano Pillars goalkeeper Obiozo  made the first penalty save of the campaign by keeping out Muhammed Hussaini’s spot kick on 83 minutes after Anyanwu was adjudged to have tripped Ajanachinedu in the box.

The remaining nine MatchDay 1 matches hold at various centres on Sunday.
