Dalung Poised To Refurbish Lagos National Stadium

Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, is about now inspecting facilities at the National Stadium, Surulere, National Institute for Sports and Games Village at Bode Thomas also in Lagos.
According Special Adviser Media to the Sports Minister, Nneka Anibeze, Dalung, who is on a two-day working visit to Lagos, will also sign-on for the Lagos City Marathon at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
Dalung, who shortly after his installation late last year paid a surprise visit to the National Stadium, appears ready to make good his resolve to refurbish the facility that used to be the pride of Africa, but now serves as a haven to rodents and street urchins and mainly used for social and religious gatherings.
He wrote on his Facebook page alongside the picture above: “On my way to Lagos for a two-day working visit and inspection of the state of facilities. For an effective policy direction there is the need for a perfect knowledge of the state of affairs.
“The days of leadership by proxy should be over and we must move out and see things for ourselves lest tempted to be misled by unreliable technical opinions.
“Lord grants us the power to discharge burden of leadership faithfully, amen.”
Dalung will leave his name on the sand of times if he eventually succeeds in restoring the glory of the facility that used to host matches involving all national teams.
All his predecessors had made similar pilgrimages soon after assuming office, but had ended up showing no modicum of concern thereafter.
