One of Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, MFM FC, were Tuesday accorded a warm reception by fans on their arrival from Mali, where they were forced to 1-1 draw by Real Bamako in a Preliminary round, first leg tie on Sunday.
It was the team’s maiden outing on the continent after finishing as runners-up in the 2016-2017 Nigeria Professional Football League standing behind Plateau United.
The Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team of mainly amateur players were not given a chance to achieve the result that will lessen their task during the return leg in a fortnight.
The team have over the years been terrible travelers in NPFL, but may have hit turning point with Sunday’s laudable result.
