Ex Nigeria midfielder and Spanish La Liga representative in Nigeria, Mutiu Adepoju is confident about Nigeria Professional League players making big money move to clubs in the Spanish elite division soon.
“I have a dream that soon NPFL players will make big money moves to the La Liga . Without doubt, we’ve the best of talents in Nigeria,” stated the former Shooting Stars Sports Club General Manager, who played most of his career in Spain, amassing La Liga totals of 175 games and 22 goals over the course of seven seasons in the colours of Racing de Santander and Real Sociedad.
Adepoju was in September 2016 appointed to help raise the profile of Spain’s Le Liga in Nigeria, with the 45-year-old saddled with the task of improving the Spanish league’s popularity to compete against the draw of the English Premier League.
The Nigeria Professional Football League signed a five-year co-operation deal with La Liga, over which an All-Stars team from NPFL featured on a playing tour of Spain.
La Liga donated 4,000 footballs to the country, while coaches from Spain are scheduled to visit schools and academies in Nigeria. An under-13 tournament, La Liga Promesa, will be staged in Nigeria and South Africa.
