2018 Winter Olympics: Famous Nigeria’s Women’s Bobsled Team in Lagos to Say Goodbye


Historic Nigeria’s Women’s bobsled team of Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma Omeoga, Seun Adigun are in Lagos, Nigeria to bid their compatriots goodbye ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics holding  in PyeongChang, South Korea from 9 February to 25 February.

The crew landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in on Thursday and was warmly received by Visa, first sponsors of the team.

The women made history as the African team to take part in Bobsled at Winter Olympics. The event featuring teams of two or four teammates who make timed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sled. The timed runs are combined to calculate the final score

They defied the odds to qualify for Winter Olympics mostly through personal efforts and corporate support, but have now been recognised by the government.

Seun Adigun had a day earlier hinted at their planned trip to Nigeria in a tweet, which read: “Nigeria, we are coming home to say GOODBYE! Thank you for all the love and support.”
