Super Eagles Team B captain and number one, Ikechukwu Ezenwa says dedication, discipline and determination will give them the edge over Sudan in Wednesday’s 2018 African Nations Championship semi-final showdown starting 20:30 pm at Stade de Marrakech.
Ezenwa, who bagged the Man of the Match, spoke to the press after pulling off a string of brave saves to help Nigeria to 2-1 victory against Angola in the quarter-final clash in Tangier on Sunday.
He said: “Before we left Nigeria for Morocco, I met with the rest members of the team and we made up our mind to give our best and make 180 Nigerians happy. We are determined, disciplined and dedicated and these are the three Ds that have been helping us.
“Even though we were trailing Angola at the tail end of the game, we never gave up the fight. I felt we could equalize and win the game and I am glad it happened.
“In Wednesday’s semi-finals, we respect Angola, but do not fear them. They are a very good side because we watched them earlier in the tournament. So, we shall put in more effort into scaling that hurdle.
“I have to thank the team especially the coach who was very calm in the technical area pushing the team and believing that we will get the win.
“The performance was great because we continued to push and tried to get the goal after going down and we did just that in the last minute.
“I’m happy with my performance and having Gernot Rohr here watching, I believe that will help me with the senior national team.
The Nigeria versus Sudan game comes on the heels of Tuesday’s first semi-final encounter between host nation Morocco and Libya at the same venue.
